Low Stakes / 10 Players / 1 Table / 1:15a Endtime

The night started off badly for everyone except Ken and Mick thanks to the seating draw that put us together (with Mick on my left). The fun and antics began before the first hand was dealt. It was either our obnoxiousness or our aggressive play, I m not sure which, but by the time we had finished, we had cleared out all the other players (including our spouses). What I do remember of play, when I wasn’t sticking oreo cookies on Micks forehead, was the following:

  1. That Martin is a slow roller (ok maybe that was Mick who remembered that)
  2. The filling in oreo cookies will stick to a person’s forehead for an extended period of time.
  3. That Mick swings a backhand punch that would put the Soviet boxer Dargo (from Rocky 3) to shame
  4. That Ken can beat Mick in heads up play
  5. That a coffee and baileys snow cone is not a bad concoction
  6. That my wife WILL make me sleep on the couch when I knock her out of the game
  7. That the regulars will most likely be petitioning the tournament director to enact a permanent ban on Mick and Ken from being seated together at future poker nights.

Adam was big stack early and Martin went out (after rebuying once already) with VERY early in the second round. There was a couple of double kills and all-in s with multiple callers. Adam was catching cards early and got one of the double kills making him early big stack. A second came later in the second round and brought my chip count back in line with the leaders. For awhile during the middle rounds there were at least 3 or 4 persons with very similar chip counts.

I was a huge big stack with (approximately) a 4:1 chip count lead going into heads up play against Mick. I won a couple of hands early, chipping away at her stack and putting her in a position of needing a little of luck. She found it. Going all in, and being behind ( I had top pair) she pulled a runner, runner, club to hit the flush. Later she managed to pull out a minor suckout by pairing her K (against my middle pair) on the river of a larger all-in which made her the chip leader by a wide margin. I slowly managed to chip away at her stack thanks to the blind structure, a little luck, and some good play. In a late critical hand, I managed to hit the (LOVE) boat on 4th street. Which took a bite out. The death blow came a short time later when I hit the nuts straight.
